350.0rg

350.org was founded in 2008 by a group of university friends with a goal of “building a future that’s just, prosperous, equitable and safe from the effects of the climate crisis.” It was named after 350 parts per million — the safe concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Now a planet-wide collaboration of grassroots organizers, its goal is a transition to 100% renewables by stopping all new coal, oil and gas projects from being built and cutting financial flows to fossil fuel companies. The group also recognizes that climate change is a social justice issue, and they are fighting to give a voice to those communities who are being hit the hardest. Learn more at 350.ORG

Best friends animal society

The Best Friends Animal Society is an animal welfare organization with a mission to demonstrate compassion and respect for all living creatures and to bring about a time when there are no more homeless pets. They run the nation’s largest no-kill sanctuary for companion animals and work to build programs around the country to reduce the number of animals entering shelters. The group does nationwide outreach with shelters and rescue groups to promote pet adoption and no-kill animal rescue. Learn more at BESTFRIENDS.ORG

International animal rescue

The IAR’s mission is to build awareness and implement effective systems where animals and their habitats are protected. Their vision is a world where humans and animals coexist in sustainable ecosystems. They help to ensure that animals are safe in their environment, and when necessary provide medical care and rehabilitation in order to safely release them back into their habitat. They also provide sanctuary for those animals that are too vulnerable to be released. Learn more at INTERNATIONALANIMALRESCUE.ORG
